7 Daily Habits To Keep A Clean Home

Do small jobs! By prioritizing good daily cleaning habits, you can keep small jobs from turning into big jobs. These daily habits help me to stay on top of housework. Just as importantly, they help to stave off that feeling of drowning in my responsibilities, even on those days when everything doesn't get finished. Morale is crucial for our well being. Keeping our spirits up and our focus positive is vital to success in everything we do. Beyond that, a clean and clear home invites a clean and clear mind. Without further more here are my 7 daily habits to keep a clean home:

1. Make your bed right away.

2. After getting ready for your day, make sure to put away all your "get ready gear." Makeup, blow dryer, hair straightener, the outfit you tried on but decided not to wear, (unless you have a capsule wardrobe in which case that didn't happen. wink-wink) Figure an extra 5 minutes into your AM routine to straighten your space before you leave it.

3. Unload the Dishwasher first thing, maybe while your waiting for your coffee to brew or tea to steep. It is easier for everyone in the home to maintain the kitchen area when dishes can be rinsed, and placed in the dishwasher, immediately after use.

4. Run a load of laundry every day.

5. Set Tidy Timers! Whenever you have a few extra minutes and feel overwhelmed, don't think about it, just set a 5-20 minute Tidy Timer. Be grateful for whatever progress you can make. We can't always get it all done and, that's okay.

6. Surfaces! Wipe surfaces often. A smooth, clean, ready for work surface, can make up for a lot.

7. Floors! Sweep or Vacuum every day. The dust, dirt, and pet hair or dander that is on the floors gets picked up and spread around by ceiling fans, HVAC units, doors opening and closing, children running, all kinds of things. It increases allergies and puts dirt everywhere. It is THE THING that makes it feel like your house is never clean no matter how hard you work. If you do this daily, it doesn't even have to be very thorough, its all about consistent maintenance.

That's it! Those daily habits keep me feeling peaceful about my surroundings during the busiest of seasons. What daily habits keep your home in check?
