Is It Time To Refresh Your Routine?

Have your routines started failing you? These systems we create to maximize our efficiency don't last forever. It may be time for some system maintenance. Let's create Methods that work!

How to Refresh your Routines

Refreshing your routines and rebooting your systems can take you from drowning to flying in no time! When everything feels chaotic, it's hard to know where to start, but here are a few easy steps to get you on track!

Assess The Breakdown!

What isn't working? Where are the problems in your life? Make a list of the areas that feel overwhelming. Are the kids' rooms perpetually messy, is the laundry piling up, is homework getting missed, are work projects continually running late, are relationships suffering?

Make a list of the problems you are facing. This is your to-do list.

What Has Changed?

If you had a working system and now it's failing, deciphering what has changed is key. The first step is to categorize the change. Is it a new lifestyle habit, or has a circumstance changed?

  •   Lifestyle or habit changes are in your control. If the habit is harmful, then change it! If the lifestyle habit is beneficial, then you have to create a new system that embraces it.

  •  Circumstance changes are not always in your control. If your circumstance has changed, then its time to go back to the drawing board and change your routine.

Implement One Thing At A Time

Making changes can be hard. Don't overwhelm yourself with a great week only to slump into a coma on the weekend and quit.

  1. Prioritize on a needs basis.

  2. Start small.

  3. Be consistent.

Still unsure where to start? A successful system will always include spiritual fulfillment, enough rest, and fresh air. Today, try saying whatever prayer is in your vocabulary, practice a few minutes of slow breathing, and schedule in 8 hours of sleep. Tomorrow will be a brighter day.
